A website that lives up to the lodge

We redesigned and migrated to Webflow the website of South Pioneers, a hunting lodge in northern San Luis, Argentina, that has welcomed hunters from the United States for more than 20 years. In one month, before the season started.

Challenge

South Pioneers is a dove and pigeon hunting lodge in northern San Luis. Since 2004 it has welcomed hunters who come, almost all of them, from the United States.

Its WordPress site had grown through add-ons: lots of text everywhere, a structure that didn't help plan the trip and an inquiry form that was hard to find. Updating it was cumbersome, something broke with every change and there were page redirects nobody could even find.

Three things had to happen at once: match the competition, get more inquiries and start recovering Google rankings. And on a fixed deadline: one month, because everything had to be ready before hunting season started.

Process

The project came through a referral from Dante at Rubica, the SEO agency we work with: they defined the strategy and we handled the design and all the technical work.

  • Structure. We organized the content into pages by type of hunt, Lodge, Trip Planning, Reviews, Journal and FAQs, with the inquiry always at hand.
  • Design. We designed for an older audience: large text, plenty of space and the fields front and center. The design was refined together with Ramiro during development.
  • Content. We started from the previous site's copy, organized and trimmed it, and Ramiro added the final touches.
  • Launch. Migration to Webflow, redirects, reviewed metadata and training so the team can edit on its own.

Solution

The new website is on Webflow. We chose it because Ramiro needed to go in and change text, photos and reviews without depending on anyone.

The home page tells a hunter what they want to know in a few steps: the volume of doves and pigeons, the three hunting styles, why northern San Luis, how to get there and what the lodge is like. A video opens the site and a floating button keeps contact one click away from any page.

Trip Planning brings together what used to be scattered: season, a typical day, firearms, consulates, what to bring and how to book. Reviews, Journal and FAQs live in the CMS, so the team updates them without touching the design.

On the technical side we made sure everything works: the migration, redirects, metadata and the implementation of Rubica's SEO strategy. We also helped sort out the domains and email accounts, which were mixed up.
